Mark Gibson

  Hello there! I'm Mark Gibson, a seasoned hand lettering artisan with over 40 years of experience. 

Since leaving school in 1980 I have always worked with a paintbrush in my hand. I first studied my craft as a traditional sign writer at a well know sign making company based in the heart of Birmingham. I continued to work as a signwriter throughout the 80's and early 90's, working all over the country and settled in Devon for a few years. 

The bottom dropped out of the hand-written market when cheap, sticky vinyl lettering destroyed the traditional sign writing skills. So, I ventured into interior design, specialist painting, gilding, and mural/canvas work. I have travelled the globe with my talents, working for the very rich and famous. I have created artwork in Japan, Portugal and many wealthy clients in London, I have worked for Rock Stars, Football players and have had pieces of art displayed (and sold) at the prestigious Mall Galleries opposite Buckingham Palace.

I have always kept my hand in practice with my traditional hand painted lettering and calligraphy skills. So, after over forty years of artistic experience I have now developed these wonderful small signs entitled "MY Little Family Tree", where I blend Retro sign writing with artistic flair to bring memories of your loved ones into an affordable, bespoke piece of art.

 I take immense pride in preserving the rich tradition of retro craftsmanship, pouring my heart and soul into each piece I create. What sets my work apart is my dedication to delivering a truly personal experience and crafting unique masterpieces that reflect the essence of individuality.
